A handful of times each year we take on a full commission build. Tell us how you'll use the Landy and we build around it — with as much of the work as possible done under our own roof, so the result is ours to stand behind.

How a build works
From brief to handover

The brief
It starts with a conversation about how you'll actually use the Landy — daily driving, the coast, towing, travel. We build around that, not a fixed template.

The vehicle & the plan
We source the right base vehicle together, then agree the full specification: engine, gearbox, suspension, paint, trim and every detail in between.
- 03
The build
As much of the work as possible is done in-house at our Lymington workshop — chassis, bodywork, mechanicals and assembly — so we control quality at every stage.

Handover
Photo and video updates throughout, then a proper handover. Every commission carries its own Land + Sea build number.
In the workshop
Designed and assembled by us
We design, specify and project manage every build from our Lymington workshop. The specialist work — engine, gearbox and axle rebuilds, paint and hand upholstery — is carried out by trusted subcontractors we have built relationships with over years. Once every part is ready, we bring it all back in-house for final assembly, fit out and finishing, so the vehicle that leaves our doors is one we are happy to stand behind.

Every commission gets its own build plate and number. Here are a few that have passed through the workshop — and space for the next one.
Build Plate One
A Defender 90 restoration finished in deep green with a cream roof — built for the owner who wanted a classic look with modern dependability.
Build Plate Two
A Defender 90 finished in heritage green with a cream roof — rebuilt to be used every day, from the New Forest lanes to the coast.
Build Plate Three
A Defender 90 finished in deep navy blue with a black roof — built for everyday use with classic proportions, modern audio and a properly sorted mechanical base.
Build Plate Four
A Defender 90 finished in silver with a black roof and detailing — built with an uprated engine, modern LED lighting and a properly sorted chassis for everyday use.
